Library Activities and Field Trips

Rams Read (book club) has visited Library of Congress, Edgar Allan Poe’s house and grave (including the catacombs), along with visiting the Baltimore Museum of Art and Enoch Pratt Library.

In addition, during the school year 2010-2011, the library, along with the support of our wonderful English teachers, sponsored a new and gently used book drive. Randallstown students and families were so generous and donated over 1000 gently used or brand new books for children and young adults. All of the books were donated to the recently opened Randallstown Community Center.

In February 2010, Rams Read and AVID sponsored a gently used and new shoe collection. Our generous students contributed several hundred pairs of shoes which we donated to  Soles for Souls. Our students wanted to somehow help after hearing about the Haitian earthquake, so this was their way of helping those victims.

The library sponsors two Poetry Coffeehouses during the school year. This school year one was held in December 2012, and another is scheduled for May 2, 2013. This is a popular event where our students, along with family members, listen to peers recite their personal poetry. The fee of $3 pays for delicious foods and coffee, tea, water and hot cocoa.

Click on the video to see Randi Seepersad, RHS's Poetry Out Loud winner, recite part of her winning poem at the Poetry Coffeehouse, which was held in the library in Dec. 2012.

The library staff has been fortunate to witness some wonderful guests, including two former Tuskegee airmen who spoke to staff and selected students.
